Build One South Africa (BOSA) has affirmed that it remains open to discussions regarding a Government of National Unity (GNU), as the party engages with the negotiation team of the African National Congress (ANC).
Led by BOSA leader Mmusi Maimane, the delegation met on Friday to assess its strategic choices. Maimane emphasized the need for the ANC to refine its GNU statement of intent to provide a clearer agenda and scope.
Currently, the GNU includes ten parties, among them the ANC, Democratic Alliance (DA), and Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP). However, Maimane stated that BOSA has not yet committed to joining, citing deficiencies in the current statement of intent.
“We believe fundamentally that any government plan must prioritize policies that benefit all 60 million South Africans, rather than serving political interests,” Maimane asserted.
He outlined BOSA’s non-negotiables, which encompass reforms in education, combating crime, a staunch stance against corruption, fostering a job-creating mixed economy, and ensuring justice and redress.
Reflecting on the meeting with the ANC, Maimane described it as productive, suggesting ongoing deliberations aimed at aligning priorities for effective governance.
