Ramaphosa expresses sympathy for the two soldiers who lost their lives in the DRC.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has expressed his sympathies to the families of two soldiers who lost their lives in a mortar attack on their base in Sake, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The incident also left twenty other soldiers wounded.

In response to the tragedy, President Ramaphosa has pledged full support from the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) to the affected families and injured personnel. Vincent Magwenya, spokesperson for the president, conveyed, “President Ramaphosa extends his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased soldiers, as well as to their commanders and colleagues. His thoughts are also with the SANDF members who are currently recuperating from their injuries.”

The president emphasized that SANDF will provide comprehensive logistical and psychosocial assistance to all those impacted by the attack. This support underscores the nation’s commitment to caring for its military personnel and their families during times of adversity.

The tragic incident underscores the risks faced by soldiers deployed on peacekeeping missions abroad. It serves as a solemn reminder of the dedication and sacrifice shown by military personnel in service to their country and international peacekeeping efforts.
