AFRO-JAZZ award winner,Naima Kay, has dumped her home town fans.
The songstress,whose real name is Lungile Khumalo, grew up on the south coast of KZN, in Port Shepstone.
Sunday Sun that last week the Sokwenzenjani hitmaker was billed to perform at the uGu Jazz Festival last week.
But she allegedly got fed up and decided to leave her throng of fans stranded.
Sunday Sun sources, who were present at the event, said fans were disappointed and angry.
“We don’t know what went wrong. As fans, we’re not entitled to (know) anything happening behind the scenes. All we want is to see our beloved and home town starperforming on stage.
“But we were disregarded and no one explained the situation after all,” said a source.
Naima is signed under Mdu Ngcobo’scompany, Touch Africa.
Another People’s Paper mole raised theissue of current organiser, Siya Msomi and former uGu Jazz promoter, Mdu Ngcobo.
Before Siya took over, Mdu was in charge of this major event.
“We don’t know. Maybe there’s beefbetween the two,” the source told the People’s Paper.
When the SunTeam asked Siya if he knew about Naima’s disappearance before herperformance, he said: “Maybe there was amiscommunication, but I’ll speak to Mdu to get the whole truth.
“We had more than one stage and there was a miscommunication.”
Speaking to Sunday Sun Naima’s boss Mdu said: “She was supposed to perform at 10pm, but later she was told (to perform at) 2pm.
“The stage manager told us they wereclosing down the event at 4pm and told us to leave. We even phoned the eventorganiser to alert him about our decision to leave and he understood.”
