This is for all grades of petrol‚ the Department of Energy confirmed on Saturday.
It attributed the drop in the fuel price mainly to the strengthening of the rand against the dollar and a drop in the prices of all products during the period under review.
The whole sale price of both grades of diesel‚ the Maximum Retail Price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and the prices of Illuminating Paraffin will also decrease with effect from Wednesday.
Diesel will cost between nine and 10 cents a less per litre and illuminating paraffin between two and three cents less per litre.
LP gas will decrease by 47c per kilogram.
“The Department of Energy urge motorists and all the households that use paraffin and LP Gas to continue to use energy sparingly during these difficult economic conditions‚” the department said.
