The EFF has been accused of violating the rights of its own employees according to a report.
The City Press reports that since entering Parliament the party has dismissed workers verball, with only a week’s notice, failed to register them for UIF and failed to hand their PAYE deductions over to Sars.
20 of their staff have now taken their cases to the department of labour and the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).
According to the report most of the staff were hired in July 2014, and their contracts were supposed to run until the end of the current parliamentary term in 2019.
But at the end of January the party’s Central Command Team, led by Julius Malema, decided to retrench them.
“They treated us as if we are enemies; they treated us as if we are a condom that has been used. Now we are not wanted,” Mpumalanga field worker Caleb Sibitane said.
