Radio personality Thando Thabethe’s social media campaign #MakeItStop aims to highlight the plight of domestic violence against women.
The powerful campaign features the likes of Denise Zimba, Khanya Mkangisa, Ayanda Thabethe, Manaka Ranaka, Andisiwe Dweba, Dineo Moeketsi and Tema Sebopedi.
The chilling snaps shows the celebrities with cuts and bruises on their faces, which aims to show what women go through on a daily basis.
Abuse is an issue that is close to Thando’s heart, after she watched her mother suffer at the hands of her father for most of her childhood.
“I witnessed my mom being beaten at the hands of my father for most of my childhood, my father btw was the most INCREDIBLE parent, filled with love and everything a good parent is. This in a way is a tribute to both my mom and my dad. My mom for soldiering through it, for coming out stronger and harder. My dad for what I know HE knows was his biggest flaw and ultimately led to his death by suicide,” Thando revealed on Instagram.
This also forms part of The Thando Thabethe Women’s Day Netball Challenge, which also aims to raise awareness about abuse and celebrate women’s month.
